Using a Cachepot
A cachepot is an outer decorative pot designed to hold a standard nursery pot—so you get the beauty of ceramics without committing to repotting. It also makes plant care easier, especially for those that like to rotate plants between different spots.
How to Water:
Keep your plant in its plastic nursery pot and place it inside the cachepot. When it’s time to water, lift the plant out, water it thoroughly over a sink, and let it drain fully before placing it back in the planter. This prevents excess moisture from collecting at the bottom, which can lead to root rot.
Best Plants for This Planter:
This size works well for trailing pothos, ferns, small prayer plants, and other medium-light-loving foliage. If you prefer succulents, just be sure to water sparingly.
Pro Tip:
If you’re set on planting directly into the ceramic planter, add a layer of pebbles or activated charcoal at the bottom to help with drainage, and be mindful not to overwater.
